A card chosen by a spectator, is returned to the deck, and the same spectator mixes the cards well so that they are completely lost.  

Now, you can throw all the cards into a bag, or top hat, and by simply throwing the end of a string into the bag, you can tie the string around the chosen card.

All this is done without ever inserting the hands in the bag, or touching the cards after being mixed.
